Problem structuring has long been acknowledged as a core modeling activity in the practice of operational research. What is modeled and how influences the way the problem is understood, therefore guiding the actions of individual, groups and organizations. Although there is a significant literature on problem structuring support, much more work is needed in this growing area of operational research and management science. This Special Issue will present important advances on problem structuring research and practice at individual, group and organizational levels.
The Guest Editors invite submissions that focus on problem structuring processes in operational research. We welcome empirical and theoretically grounded papers that make clear and important contributions to the research and practice of problem structuring. We expect that the papers build on appropriate qualitative or quantitative research methods in the laboratory or the field. Topics of particular interest may include, but are not limited to:
Prospective authors are invited to submit a full paper to the Manuscript Central editorial system (https://www.editorialmanager.com/ejdp, article type SI: Problem Structuring). Alternatively, they may send the Guest Editors a three-page extended abstract describing the proposed contribution ([email protected]) for feedback. The planned schedule is as follows:
