The Department of Business Studies and Economics of the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau is recruiting a
Research Assistant (f/m/d) – PhD student / Postdoc
part-time (75%)
The initial contract is for 4 years (starting as soon as possible) with the option to be extended. You will be working at the Chair of Logistics (Prof. Timo Gschwind), which applies and develops Operations Research methods for the analysis and solution of questions arising in transportation and logistics.
Your tasks include:
- Support of research and teaching (supervision of tutorials and exercises, bachelor and master theses, administration)
- Independent scientific work
- The position serves the purpose of academic qualification
Your profile:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) with above-average grades in a quantitative-oriented field such as mathematics, computer science, industrial engineering, management, or economics
- Profound knowledge in discrete optimization and in the development of algorithms, in particular, the implementation of Operations Research methods (e.g., in C, C++, or Java)
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- The ability to explain complex facts in an understandable way and to work independently as well as in a team
