Oliver Braun is Professor of Quantitative Methods for Business and Management at Trier University of Applied Sciences, Environmental Campus Birkenfeld. He came to the Environmental Campus from the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego). Oliver Braun studied Computer Science and Business Administration at the Saarland University of Saarbrücken, completing a PhD and a postdoctoral lecturer qualification in Business and Management.
Oliver Braun has managed research projects for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany ("Secure payments over the Internet") and the European Union ("INTAS-Project Discrete optimization problems in scheduling and computer-aided design“). His past project partners include Lufthansa Cargo, Bosch Rexroth, and Microsoft Germany. While at UC San Diego, he conducted research on a National Science Foundation of Germany (DFG) project and received additional grant support from the Fulbright Scholar Program. He has also held teaching and research positions at UC San Diego, Liechtenstein University, and Saarland University.
Oliver Braun is member of the EURO Working Group on Project Management and Scheduling (EURO), Gesellschaft für Operations Research (GOR) and of the committee for Operations Research (WKOR) of the German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB). He has published over 30 articles in renowned international journals, including the Journal of Scheduling, SIAM Journal on Computing, OR Spectrum, and International Journal of Production Research.
