Aviation is a complex industry where existing and emerging threats need to be considered carefully when balancing the need for improved safety with the need to maximise passenger throughput, minimise the space taken up by security measures, and minimise unnecessary costs. How can we, as Operational Researchers, help the aviation industry to design ‘optimal’ security solutions?
